Full suits, spring suits, and jackets

A full suit covers arms and legs for cold water. A spring suit (short arms and legs) bridges those in between days. A wetsuit jacket or vest adds core warmth over boardshorts on mild days. Seam construction matters too: flatlock breathes for warm water, while glued and blind stitched (often taped) seams keep cold water out in winter suits.

A wetsuit should fit like a second skin, snug with no loose folds in the lower back or behind the knees, but not so tight you cannot fill your lungs or rotate to paddle.
