The Wax Ball Vol. 7

  |
Live Performances by The Abigails and Tomorrows Tulips. The Abigails are a fairly new band out of Costa Mesa, CA, fronted by Warren Thomas (formerly of The Growlers and Grand Elegance), who bring a dark, gritty country sound to the stage. More Johnny Cash than Hank Williams though, The Abigails are not a band to be messed with. Tomorrows Tulips is fronted by longboarder Alex Knost and brings a lo-fi beach fuzzed pop sound to the stage. Backed by friends and surfers on stage, Tomorrows Tulips are exactly the band you'd want to see at a party down by the beach. About The Wax Ball: The Wax Ball is a monthly music showcase hosted at The Marine Room, Laguna's oldest bar [1930s] which happens to be owned by the town's former mayor. Laguna is world renowned for its artists and creativity, but the town is void of any good music. 80s night and reggae parties dominate the scene and the local surf community has been forced to head out of town for good surf rock, punk, blues, and garage. The Wax Ball happens once a month, on the second Thursday, and is bringing a refreshing and eager crowd to The Marine Room. There is literally nothing else happening in terms of music anywhere in or surrounding Laguna and Thalia Surf, Brixton, Raen Optics, and Deus Ex Machina aim to change that. Media coverage provided by LEAF. This event is 21+. Doors at 8pm. No Cover.
